What We Offer

Only 35 minutes drive from the Wellington CBD and set beyond the Trentham Racecourse at the foothills of the eastern upper valley hills. A relatively flat par 71 course which offers numerous challenges with its tree lined fairways, water hazards and where nature abounds with Tui’s and Kereru (Wood Pigeons) along with some of the swamp wild life which borders the course. The course is set amongst other recreational outdoor groups including; an archery range, rifle & pistol ranges and a model aeroplane club which all add to the mix of local activity.

In 1969 Major George Bennett, Camp Commandant of Trentham Army Camp asked two of his staff, Gordon Leighton and Jack Crawford to form a golf committee. The land available was swampy in places and overgrown with tussock and bullrushes.  In essence this was the beginning of the Trentham Camp Golf Club. From swamp and tussock six greens were carved out of the scrub and over the ensuing years sheep were cleared from the course, drains were established and greens and fairways were developed until finally in 1981 the last 4 holes were completed and the course became an 18 hole facility.

The Club is typical of many similar organisations where its establishment was due to the voluntary effort and generosity of members and their families with working bees and fundraising activities to provide the marvellous facility that we have today. The Club provides an environment for all the community to enjoy with an active membership and where visitors and new members are always welcome.
